Exclusive Oriental Fence (BP206)

BP206 combines forged steel with ornament formed in moulds, a mix that gives a depth of relief that forging alone cannot achieve.

A medallion sits at the top of each arched panel above a white wall.

It is one of the oriental fences we are proudest of.

Windows of ironwork in a white wall

BP206 is not a fence of tall bars but a series of ornamental windows set into a white wall. Each opening has a wide, curved outline, almost like an eye, and inside it a bronze-toned panel of scrolls, leaves and tendrils surrounds a medallion at the top of the arch. Seen along the wall, the panels form a rhythmic row of rich, dark ornament against the smooth white plaster.

The photos show the fence in a lavish garden with pruned pines, palms, cycads and a pond, in front of a residence with columns and balconies. The oriental curves of the frames and the exotic planting suit each other perfectly.

Forging combined with moulded ornament

The depth of relief on BP206 comes from combining two techniques. The frame and the main scrolls are forged by hand, while the finest sculptural details are formed in moulds, then finished and joined to the steel. Forging alone could not achieve this density of three-dimensional ornament on every panel without making each one weeks of work, and the mix keeps the pattern identical along the whole wall.

The bronze tone is applied by hand over a protective base, with darker shading in the recesses, so the ornament looks rich in strong tropical light as well as on a grey northern day.

Elegant from afar, fascinating up close

From the street the fence reads as a calm, repeated motif that gives the wall structure. Only when you come closer do you notice the leaves, the medallions and the fine tendrils. This double effect is what makes BP206 one of the oriental fences we are proudest of: it is representative without being loud.

Each panel is made to the opening it will fill, and the shape of the frame can be adjusted to the architecture: a wider, flatter curve for a long wall, or a taller arch for a gateway.

  • panels set into masonry walls or between pillars,
  • a bronze, antique gold or black-and-gold finish,
  • matching gates, wickets and balcony railings,
  • lanterns for the pillars in the same style.

The same eastern curves shape the leaves of our oriental driveway gates.
