Openwork Forged Gate Pillars and Columns
Our forged columns are among the most decorative gate and fence pillars you can find. They carry gates, wickets and fence panels, replacing the usual brick or concrete piers and walls, and they turn the whole boundary into one piece of ironwork.
We make everything from slender decorative fence posts to huge three-dimensional columns for palace gates.
Our forged pillar designs
Stronger than masonry, designed with the gate
The largest columns are several metres tall and weigh more than a tonne. One of them can carry a gate weighing several tonnes, and its strength and rigidity exceed those of a masonry pier. All are made of steel and hot-dip galvanized, so they are fully weatherproof.
A forged column looks best with a matching gate and fence. See our gate sets, where pillars, gates and wickets are designed as one ensemble, and our wrought iron fences. You are welcome to see the columns in person at our showroom in Dębica.
Steel gate pillars: an alternative to masonry
Openwork forged pillars are not just decoration; above all they are structural. Unlike brick or concrete piers, steel gate pillars need no bulky masonry. A properly designed and anchored pillar can carry very heavy gate leaves while staying slender and visually light.
With heavy residential or palace gates, ordinary concrete piers often fail to match the scale and character of the entrance. Metal pillars create a three-dimensional structure that looks grand even without any masonry around it.
Gate pillars for heavy structures
Our largest pillars are several metres tall and can weigh several tonnes. Load-bearing gate pillars of this kind are designed individually for a particular entrance. Careful distribution of mass and a multi-layer steel structure keep the pillar rigid even under very high dynamic loads, which in practice means that gates weighing several tonnes can be hung safely without building massive concrete walls.
Classic or modern pillars
Openwork pillars can be palace, baroque or manor in character, but also minimalist and modern. In modern projects we use geometric divisions and clean lines; in historic designs, acanthus leaves, finials and details shaped by hand in the forge. The pillar then stops being a purely technical element and becomes part of the front architecture.
A concrete pier does its structural job but rarely adds prestige. A forged steel pillar combines load-bearing and decorative roles: it needs no cladding, no extra masonry and never overwhelms the fence with a heavy block. That is why on residential projects more and more clients choose openwork steel pillars over masonry, gaining lightness without losing strength. Pillars can also carry lamps, crowns or a family crest.
Forged pillar FAQ
Can forged pillars carry a heavy automated gate?
Yes. The pillars are designed for the weight of the gate and the forces of an automatic opener, and they are anchored in reinforced foundations that we specify on the drawing.
Do you make smaller posts for fences?
Yes. Alongside the large gate columns we make slender decorative fence posts that can replace masonry piers along the whole run of a fence.
