Forged Iron Chandeliers

A blacksmith chandelier is the heart of a room. We forge chandeliers that you will not find anywhere else: rose chandeliers, ring chandeliers on chains, palace and castle designs, rustic pieces for log homes and modern LED chandeliers.

Most are made to order, so the size, the number of arms and the type of lights are adjusted to your room. The largest weigh several hundred kilograms.

Our forged chandeliers

Rustic, castle, palace or modern

Traditional chandeliers on chains with candle-style bulbs suit castles, manor houses and great halls. For timber houses and lodges we make rustic and folk designs, and for lofts and modern interiors, clean forms with LED lighting. See also our wall sconces to match.

We offer massive forged chandeliers that you will not find in any store. Most are made to order, so their size and look can be matched exactly to your interior, and the largest weigh several hundred kilograms. All are made by hand by our blacksmiths using only traditional techniques, in many styles, among them palace, loft and designer. Many of our forged products can be seen in our gallery.

Metal chandeliers: why steel

All our chandeliers are steel, which makes them exceptionally solid. Metal chandeliers come in many forms, but today the word metal says little about quality, because many products are made of thin, poor metals or alloys so brittle that they are practically disposable. The only truly solid metal for the finest chandeliers is steel, and among steel chandeliers, which also include modern designs, the most beautiful are forged ones.

Forged chandeliers take a great deal of work and experience, and they cannot be made without talent, because the work is not only hard but deeply artistic: a blacksmith has to put his heart into a chandelier for it to turn out as beautiful as the ones in our gallery, and each of them can be made for you.

Classic, rich or designer forms

Our metal chandeliers take many forms. For traditional architecture we often make classic chandeliers that are not too heavy and are balanced in their ornament; at other times we make strongly designer chandeliers or very rich ones. Both approaches are right, and the choice is always individual, so every commission starts with an analysis of the building, the room and your favourite style.

Bronze and brass chandeliers

Besides steel, we make chandeliers in bronze and brass. They are made less often, because they are more demanding and forged steel can successfully replace them, but for institutions, churches and palaces we can make them and even gild them. Their main feature is the beautiful natural colour of the metal, which can be sealed to stay unchanged or left to develop a noble patina over time, depending on the building and your wishes.

Chandeliers for dining rooms, halls and hotels

We match each chandelier to the size of the room and the height of the ceiling. Over a dining table, rings with candles, like the castle ring chandelier WW31, or elongated compositions work well; for tall living rooms and halls we recommend multi-tier chandeliers such as the large forged leaf chandelier WW44. For log homes, guesthouses and inns we make rustic chandeliers with rings, candles and rosettes, like WW34, where a dark or copper patina goes beautifully with timber. For ballrooms, hotels and palaces we make chandeliers weighing several hundred kilograms, like the 12-arm WW9 with forged roses, and agree the ceiling fixing with the client; matching wall sconces complete the set.

Chandeliers for churches and great halls

For churches, castle halls and hotel ballrooms we make chandeliers several metres across, with dozens of lights, forged roses, crowns or coats of arms. They are designed together with their ceiling fixing and wiring, and they can be supplied with matching wall sconces and candlesticks so the whole interior is lit in one style.

Forged chandelier FAQ

How big can a forged chandelier be?

We have made chandeliers several metres long for halls and churches. A ceiling hook or plate rated for the weight is part of every installation.

Can I choose the bulbs and shades?

Yes: candle-style LEDs, glass shades, globes or built-in LED strips. The number of arms can also be changed.

Do you ship chandeliers to the USA and UK?

Yes. Chandeliers are carefully crated and shipped worldwide, wired for the destination country.

How low should a chandelier hang over a dining table?

Over a dining table the lowest point of a chandelier is usually about 75 to 90 cm (30 to 36 in) above the table top, so it lights the table without blocking the view across it. In halls and stairwells we set the height to the ceiling and the way the space is used.

Can a chandelier be made with real candles?

Yes. Ring and castle chandeliers can hold real candles, and many clients choose candle-style LED bulbs instead, which give the same look without wax or soot.
