Wrought Iron Railings and Balustrades

A railing is touched every day, so it has to be as solid as it is beautiful. We hand-forge wrought iron railings for interior staircases, balconies, terraces, outdoor steps and mezzanines, in every style from restrained classic to baroque, rococo, glamour, loft and Gothic.

Every detail, from twisted bars to acanthus leaves and volutes, is forged by hand, and every railing is made to the exact geometry of your stairs or balcony.

All our wrought iron railings

Below you will find our interior staircase and mezzanine railings together with balcony, terrace and outdoor stair railings. Each photo opens a page with more pictures of the railing and a short story of how it was designed and forged.

Exterior, interior and sculpted railings

Our exterior wrought iron railings are hot-dip galvanized before painting, so they cope with rain, frost and salt for decades. They range from French balconies to heavy palace balustrades and include railings for outdoor steps.

Inside the house a railing becomes furniture. Our interior stair railings can be combined with glass, brass, bronze or gilding and finished with handrails of oak, walnut, steel or brass.

For timber houses and nature lovers we make sculpted railings with life-size herons, eagles and deer among forged branches.

Metal railings: the noble form of steel

Metal railings are among the most durable and versatile elements of architecture. We make them from structural steel designed for decades of use; every outdoor railing is hot-dip galvanized and then painted, which gives it high resistance to the weather and a colour that stays stable for years.

Our steel railings are individual structures, never off-the-shelf systems, which gives us full control over proportion, detail and the character of the pattern. Forged railings are the most prestigious kind of metal railing: unlike mass production, every detail has to be worked by hand. We specialise in hand-forged ornament, including blacksmith acanthus, which very few workshops still make today.

Made to measure, from survey to installation

As railing makers we work directly with our clients at every stage. Every forged railing is made to measure, matched to the geometry of the stairs, the structure of the balcony and the architectural style of the building. Alongside elaborate compositions we also make sturdy metal handrails and barriers for intensive use in private and commercial buildings.

Each project is treated as a separate commission: proportions, ornament, surface finish and the character of the detail can all be adjusted, and if no existing pattern fits, we design the railing from scratch. Depending on its complexity we use traditional measuring methods as well as modern technology, including 3D modelling and laser surveys, which gives us high precision even with very complex three-dimensional forms.

We survey the stairs or balcony, prepare drawings, forge the railing and install it, in Europe with our own team and overseas with detailed instructions. We can also restore or reconstruct historic balustrades and build complete wrought iron staircases.

Blacksmith craftsmanship you can see

Our workshop works as a manufactory devoted to traditional artistic blacksmithing. Every decorative element is shaped by hand, giving a depth and plasticity that mass-produced railings simply do not have. Proportion, precise workmanship and proper protection of the steel are what decide the final look of a railing.

We make grand palace compositions as well as more restrained metal railings for contemporary architecture. For the most demanding projects we also offer elements in brass, bronze and wood, and gilding. You are welcome to visit our showroom, where hundreds of examples can be seen and compared in person.

Railing FAQ

Can a stair railing match a balcony railing?

Yes. We often repeat one pattern inside and outside the house, adapting the structure and fixings to each use, so that the stairs, the balconies and the terrace share one design language.

Do you restore old railings?

Yes. We restore and reconstruct historic balustrades from photographs or surviving fragments, forging missing parts by hand to match the original.
