Palace Balustrade (BA76)

BA76 is distinguished by huge forged leaves, very thick and massive, running around a palace stairwell beneath a chandelier.

It combines many different techniques and can be finished in any colour.

Scale for a palace stairwell

BA76 was made for a large, open stairwell under a chandelier, where a railing has to hold its own against the size of the space. Its most distinctive feature is the huge forged leaves, very thick and massive, which sweep between rhythmically repeated spirals and central rosettes. Along the long, curved flight, these motifs mark the axis of the stair and give it order.

Many techniques in one railing

Several techniques meet in BA76. The leaves are forged and modelled by hand, the rosettes are built up from separately shaped petals, the spirals are bent hot, and selected details are gilded to mark the rhythm of the spans. A profiled wooden handrail closes the composition and adds a warm contrast to the patinated steel.

Wide spacing, full stiffness

In a large stairwell the posts are often far apart. The railing is therefore forged from solid sections, and the ornament works together with the frame to keep each span rigid. Transitions between sections at the turns of the stair are fitted so that the pattern continues without a break.

It can be finished in any colour; other palace-scale designs appear with our grand staircase railings.
