Forged Railing with Lattice (BA77)
BA77 is built around a forged diagonal lattice, an elegant and timeless motif, finished in white.
It sits lightly on a pale marble stair.

Lattice softened by spirals
BA77 combines a diagonal lattice with the soft line of spiral details. The centre of each span is a dense lattice that strengthens the structure and gives it rhythm, while the side parts are formed more fluidly to soften the geometric character of the grid. The result is elegant and timeless, and finished in white it sits lightly on a pale marble stair.
Why diagonals stiffen a railing
Diagonal bars do more than decorate. Like the braces in a truss, they stop the span from racking sideways, which matters when the posts are far apart on a long flight. That is why a lattice railing can use slimmer posts and still feel solid under the hand.
The starting post is strongly emphasised, with vertical fluting and a massive form that marks the first step.
A white finish, as on the stair in the photo, shows off the crossing pattern of the lattice especially well, because each bar throws a thin shadow onto the next. The same railing in black reads more graphic and formal; in bronze it looks warmer and more traditional.
