Oriental-Style Balcony Railing (BA82)
BA82 is an oriental-style railing finished in gold, its scrolls and medallions arranged like the frieze of a palace.
It is made by hand from very massive, heavy materials.

A central motif in gold
BA82 is dominated by an elaborate central motif that gives the balcony a clear axis. The ornament is part of the structure, leading the eye along the curved line of the balcony and emphasising its geometry. Finished in gold, with deep relief, the railing has a sculptural character that creates strong light and shadow on the facade.
Reinforced for a rich pattern
An outdoor railing with this much ornament must stay rigid, so the load-bearing frame was reinforced and the handrail shaped to the arc of the balcony. On curved balconies, continuity of line and symmetry with the elevation are essential: the pattern must run evenly along the curve without disturbing the architectural divisions.
Ironwork as part of the facade
BA82 shows how artistic blacksmithing can work in facade architecture: not as excessive ornament, but as a deliberately designed detail that underlines the status of the building. The form is decorative but subordinate to the structure and the proportions of the house. Proper corrosion protection and a stable fixing to the balcony structure decide its safety and its long service life.
