Wrought Iron Railing in the Gothic Style (BA72)

BA72 is a heavy railing designed in the language of Gothic ornament, with tracery roundels along a long flight of outdoor granite stairs.

It is intended mainly for churches, castles, fortresses and other historic buildings, but also for private houses. We can make railings in the style of any period.

Tracery in steel

Round fields with Gothic tracery, like small rose windows, are set at intervals along the railing, with slender bars and pointed motifs between them. The handrail ends at the foot of the stair in a broad curl, and a grey-green patina gives the steel the look of old ironwork.

Matched to the building

The tracery can be redrawn to echo the windows, doors or other details of the building it serves, so the railing belongs to the architecture rather than being added to it. The handrail follows the slope of the flight exactly, and every element is forged by hand with careful joints.

For historic and modern homes

Gothic ornament suits restored historic buildings, churches and castle stairs, but also modern houses with stone details. The railing is protected for outdoor use and made to measure for each stair.
