Hand-Forged Balustrade (BA19)
BA19 is entirely forged by hand, and its pattern is among the most time-consuming and difficult we make. It rewards that effort with a beauty and elegance that wood or other materials cannot match.

In the photo it curves up a marble stair with a white handrail.
One of our most demanding patterns
BA19 is forged entirely by hand, and its pattern of interwoven scrolls, small leaves and buds is among the most time-consuming we make. The effort is visible in the result: the railing follows the curved marble stair in one flowing line, and the light, cream finish under a white handrail makes the ornament look almost like lace.
Beauty wood cannot match
Turned wooden balusters have their charm, but they cannot achieve the openness of forged steel. A hand-forged balustrade can be thin where it needs to be light and strong where it carries load, and its ornament can flow continuously from step to step. That is what gives BA19 an elegance that wood or other materials do not reach.
The openwork filling lets light pass between the floors, which matters in bright, elegant interiors, and the light finish brings out every curve. For more designs with a similarly light touch, browse the hand-forged interior railings we have made.
