Exclusive Stair Railing (BA57)
BA57 concentrates its rich, massive ornament in a few places, leaving calm areas in between, so the design is full of contrast. In the photo it is finished in ivory against pale stone stairs.

It is a difficult railing to make, so only our best specialists work on it. Its twin design is BA58.
A soft line in ivory
The first impression of BA57 comes from its line. The handrail runs softly, without sudden breaks, and below it large volutes and modelled plant motifs flow into one another. The richest ornaments are placed where the railing changes direction, leaving calmer stretches in between, which gives the design its contrast. In the photo it is finished in ivory, which brings out the relief against pale stone steps.
Controlling thickness
Every element was formed in the fire and refined by hand. With large volutes and acanthus endings, the thickness of the material has to be controlled precisely, so that the ornament looks generous while the structure stays light enough to be fixed securely to the steps. Structure and ornament were designed together, which is why the decoration never looks applied.
BA57 suits classical architecture and representative entrances; its twin design is BA58, and further outdoor designs appear among our exterior railings for steps and porches.
Light finishes like ivory need careful preparation outdoors: after galvanizing, the steel receives a primer that bonds to zinc and then several coats of paint, so the colour stays even and does not flake.
Following the landing and the facade
In railings with a higher standard of finish, the form must be matched to the geometry of the landing and the character of the facade. The handrail should follow the compositional axes of the building, and the detail should be placed according to the logic of the structure, not crowded at random. Bespoke exterior railings also need an individual choice of steel sections, joining methods and anchoring, so that they carry everyday loads and long exposure to the weather.
