French baroque in gold
BA61 is a massive baroque balustrade in shades of gold, its scrolls and rosettes modelled on historic French designs. Rosettes are placed at a regular rhythm, sculptural details give the pattern depth, and rings in the lower band and solid posts frame the composition. The golden finish brings warmth to the stairwell and emphasises the prestige of the space.
Soft lines from hard steel
Baroque ironwork depends on soft, swelling lines. To get them, the steel is heated and modelled rather than simply bent, so the scrolls thicken and thin along their length like the curves of a carved frame. The ornament is part of the structure, which gives the balustrade its strength and rigidity despite the richness of the design.
Choosing the handrail
The handrail of BA61 can be wood, steel or brass. A wooden rail softens the gold and is pleasant to touch; a brass rail continues the golden tone and makes the whole railing look like a single piece of metalwork; a steel rail painted to match is the most robust choice for busy houses.
The design suits spacious stairwells, residences and homes where architectural detail plays a leading role. Baroque and rococo railings in other colours are collected with our wrought iron balustrades. Its baroque scrolls are fitted to the exact geometry of the stairs, as with all our interior staircase railings.
