Hand-Forged Mailbox with an Owl (PS3)

PS3 is one of our favourite mailboxes. An owl perches on top of the box, and oak twigs with leaves and acorns grow right through it.

Everything is forged by hand from steel, an everyday example of the blacksmithing and metalwork we do. For more owls, see our metal animal sculptures.

Graphite body, golden leaves

The rounded body has a graphite patina, which contrasts with the golden leaves. All parts, including the owl, are galvanized, so the box can hang outdoors without a roof over it. The owl can be swapped for another bird, and the oak twigs for ivy or vine.

Feathers cut from sheet

The owl’s feathers are cut from sheet steel and shaped one by one, and the convex front of the box gives it a soft, rounded outline. It is a mailbox for someone who wants their love of nature and handwork to show at the gate.
