Palace Gate Set with Openwork Pillars (BP46)

BP46 is part of a complete palace entrance: a driveway gate, a pedestrian wicket and three massive openwork steel pillars topped with vases.

Gilded figural reliefs and garlands stand out against black ironwork, and a lattice dome crowns the gate itself.

Because of its complexity, it is made only by our most experienced blacksmiths, and that care extends to both faces of the gate.

With our pillars or yours

We can build the set exactly as shown, or adapt the gate to standard masonry or concrete piers if you already have them.

Arch, lattice and cartouches

The composition rests on a tall arch with a lattice in the centre, which serves as a backdrop for the large plant ornaments. The leaves are divided into symmetrical fields with vertical bars and gilded plant motifs, and their centres hold decorative compositions that recall the cartouches of historic residential fences. The gilding gives the relief depth and makes the palace character unmistakable.

Pillars as part of the design

The tall gate pillars have an architectural form of their own: cornices, vases and inner panels that repeat the motifs of the gate. Similar openwork forged columns can be ordered on their own, for an entrance or a whole fence.

An entrance for a large estate

Entrances to large properties are often designed as elaborate sets of gate, wicket and decorative pillars. Residential gates of this kind stand out with tall arched tops, rich plant ornament and gilded details, so the entrance becomes an important accent of the whole fence and not only a practical element. BP46 was made in our workshop as an example of elaborate artistic blacksmithing, where hand-formed ornament and carefully chosen proportions give the whole layout its decorative character. The driveway gate from this set can also be ordered on its own, like the other traditional palace gates we forge.
