Exclusive Openwork Forged Gate (BP86)

BP86 is an openwork gate without any solid screening, yet its pattern is so dense that it makes it hard for strangers to see in.

A fine grid of bars is studded with gilded rosettes, two large scroll medallions sit in the middle of the leaves, and an arched crest of scrolls runs across the top.

The blacksmith work is executed with the same precision on both sides, and we are happy to modify the design. It is one of the richest of our openwork gate designs.

Black and gold

The gate is finished in black with gilded details, which gives the entrance a distinctly palatial character. Each leaf is held in a geometric frame with a steady rhythm of gold rosettes that leads the eye along the whole structure and gives it a clear decorative order.

A cartouche at the centre, a crown above

The central fields carry the lattice, and on it sit large ornamental motifs of forged and hand-shaped elements. Gilded leaves and stylised plant forms build an elaborate cartouche, the main accent of each leaf. Above them, the high arched crest is filled with a dense web of spirals and interlaced bars growing symmetrically from the axis of the gate. It is the richest part of the composition, and the reason the gate still reads well from the far end of a long drive.
