Wrought Iron Stairs with Balustrades (BA8)

BA8 is a complete spiral staircase: wooden treads over a hidden metal structure, a balustrade of charming twisted elements topped with hand-forged acanthus, and a wooden handrail.

We can make identical stairs in any dimensions.

A complete spiral staircase

BA8 is not only a railing but a complete spiral staircase. A central column forms the axis, steel brackets hidden under the wooden treads carry the steps, and the balustrade follows the spiral in a continuous line. Charming twisted bars rise from every step, and at the top they are finished with hand-forged acanthus leaves under a wooden handrail.

Saving space with style

A spiral stair takes up far less floor area than a straight flight, which makes it ideal for small homes, lofts, libraries and access to a gallery. Because the treads are fixed radially around the column, the stair can turn through any angle, and its openwork keeps the room light. We make identical stairs in any dimension, adjusting the diameter and the height of each step to the space.

What to check before ordering

The two figures that decide whether a spiral stair is comfortable are its diameter and the rise of each step. As a rule, a larger diameter gives wider treads and an easier climb, and many building codes set minimum widths for stairs used as the main access to a floor. We check these points against the rules that apply to your home before we design the stair.

Spiral stairs can be combined with gallery railings in the same pattern; ideas are shown with our railings and stairs.
