Shoe and Ants – Metal Sculpture (Z77)

Z77 is a whimsical composition: a heavy boot carried along by a team of steel ants.

Humour in steel

The boot is worn out and wrinkled, with untied laces, and copper ants bustle around it as if trying to lift it. The contrast between the dark steel and the rust-coloured insects gives the composition humour and lightness. It works as a garden ornament, a decoration for a shoe shop or an unusual gift, and it shows how an ordinary object turns into a story in a blacksmith’s hands.

Ants with thin legs

The ants are forged with thin legs and antennae, and some of them push at the toe while others hold the boot from below.
