Wrought Iron Fence Panel (BP231)

BP231 is a classic panel with a scrolled arch and bars, shown here as a short run beside a pedestrian gate.

Iron fence panels are the most durable, most beautiful and most classic form of fencing, and they suit house and garden alike.

A bent frame full of movement

BP231 has a vivid, flowing drawing. The frame of the span is not rectangular but bends into an arch, and between the vertical bars unfold volutes, spirals and hand-forged leaves. Above the span rises a rich openwork crest, and slender spirals on the side edges pass smoothly into the bars, so the panel seems to grow rather than to have been assembled.

The panel shown is fixed between clinker brick pillars, in front of a house with light details on the facade. The matt black steel contrasts well with the brick and brings out the drawing of the ornament, while the gaps between the bars keep contact with the garden.

From fence to wicket

Because of its curved frame, BP231 works well as a decorative closure beside an entrance or along a short front. The same pattern can be used in a pedestrian gate, where the arches of the frame and the crest pass smoothly from the fence onto the gate leaf. For longer runs we suggest spans with a slightly lower crest, so the whole line stays light. Every volute is formed hot and the arches are fitted to the width of each span, which keeps the proportions right even at unusual sizes.
