Richly Decorated Forged Fence (BP229)
BP229 has an unusual design: an arched panel with lattice and gilded ornament above a solid lower section.
It is hot-dip galvanized, so it will never rust, and we make it in any size.

An arch of lattice over a solid base
BP229 has an unusual construction. The lower part of each span is closed, giving privacy at the height where people and cars pass, while the upper part opens into an arch filled with a diamond lattice. Over the lattice the panel is decorated with gilded scrolls, leaves and a central flower-like rosette, so the most ornamental part of the fence sits exactly where it is seen best: against the sky.
Between pillars of red brick, the warm gold of the ornament picks up the colour of the brickwork. The arched top, rising between square pillars, gives the frontage a gentle, rhythmic outline.
Metal as a means of expression
In artistic blacksmithing, steel is not only a building material but also a way of drawing. On BP229 the lines of the scrolls lead the eye from the corners of the panel towards the rosette at its centre, the lattice adds texture and depth behind them, and the gilding marks the most important points of the composition. Nothing is placed by chance.
Every fragment of the fence is made by hand in our workshop. The lattice bars are crossed and joined one by one, the scrolls are bent hot and the leaves are forged individually, which gives the panel a liveliness that factory-made ornament does not have.
Hot-dip galvanized, so it will not rust
The finished panels are hot-dip galvanized before painting. The zinc coating protects the steel inside and out, including the crossings of the lattice and the backs of the scrolls, where paint alone could never reach properly. After galvanizing the panels are painted and the ornament is gilded, so the fence keeps both its colour and its gold for many years without rust stains.
A solid lower section must be as durable as the openwork above it, so the sheet is galvanized together with the frame and painted on both sides.
A front fence with presence
BP229 works best as a front fence, where it creates the first impression of the property and reflects the style of the house. The openings in the upper part keep visual contact with the street, while the closed lower part clearly marks the private area of the garden. Security and an exceptional look are what most owners of such houses ask for, and BP229 offers both.
- any width of span and any height of arch,
- a solid or semi-open lower section,
- gilded, bronze or silver ornament on a black or graphite base,
- a matching driveway gate and pedestrian gate.
Individual every time
Even when a client chooses BP229 from our gallery, the fence is never a copy. The proportions are redrawn for the new site, the lattice is adapted to the height of the arch and the ornament can be enlarged, simplified or given a personal motif. That is why each fence made to this design keeps an individual character while following the same idea.
For comparison, our ornamental iron fences include both richer and calmer variations of this idea.
The lattice arch and gilded rosette can also be repeated on balcony and terrace railings, so the ornament of the fence returns on the house itself and the whole property looks designed as one.
