An Elegant Forged Garden Fence (BP218)

BP218 is a classic garden fence with diamond lattice set between stone pillars topped with balls.

Wrought iron fences are prestigious, strong and durable, and few materials can match them for a boundary that lasts.

A quiet, classic lattice pattern

BP218 is built on one of the oldest motifs in ornamental ironwork: a diamond lattice made of square bars crossing at an angle. Above it runs a band of small scrolls, and the panel is closed by straight rails at the top and bottom. The pattern is regular and restful, so the fence frames the garden instead of competing with the house.

In the close-up you can see how the lattice bars pass through each other at the crossings. The joints are made by hand, which gives the lattice a crisp, three-dimensional look that pressed or stamped panels never quite achieve.

Matching gates and stone pillars

Diamond lattice is easy to continue into a driveway gate and a wicket, so the whole frontage can be drawn as one set. On the property in the photo the panels sit between rendered pillars with stone caps, which suits the calm, traditional character of the design. Brick, natural stone or plaster all work well as a background.

We can adjust the size of the diamonds, the height of the scrolled band and the spacing of the pillars to the length of your frontage. A gilded detail at the crossing points or a small rosette in the centre of each span is possible if you would like a slightly richer version.

Made to outlast timber

The panels are welded into a rigid frame, protected against rust and painted in deep black. A lattice fence like this needs only an occasional clean to keep its look, and it will not warp, split or sag with the seasons the way a wooden fence does.

A gate drawn in the same lattice can be chosen from our traditional gates, so that fence and entrance match.
