Traditional House and Residence Fencing (BP224)

BP224 uses bars of moderate thickness for a light appearance. Its ornament, a scrolled fleur motif at the centre of each panel, is subdued.

It emphasises the character of the house without imposing too much decoration.

Light bars, one central motif

BP224 uses bars of moderate thickness, so the fence looks light even when it is tall. The top rail curves gently upwards in the middle of each span, and the only real ornament is a scrolled fleur motif with bronze accents at the centre. The rest is a regular row of bars with spear tips, which gives the fence a calm, traditional look.

Pale pink rendered pillars and a garden full of trees show how well the design works with colour: the dark steel and bronze motif stand out clearly without making the frontage heavy.

Right for family houses

Not every house needs a palace fence. On a family home, a design with one well-placed motif per span often looks more elegant than rich ornament, and it leaves room for the garden and the architecture. BP224 is made for that situation, and it can run around the whole plot without becoming tiring to look at.

Thin bars, strong fence

Moderate sections do not mean a weak fence. The bars are welded into solid top and bottom rails, the panels are fixed to the pillars with brackets at several points, and the central motif ties the bars together where they are longest. The result is stiff enough to withstand leaning, climbing children and strong wind.

  • the fleur motif in bronze, gold or the colour of the fence,
  • arched or straight top rail,
  • spear, ball or plain bar tops,
  • heights from low front fences to tall boundaries.

Maintenance in practice

A galvanized and painted fence needs little attention. Wash it once or twice a year with water and a mild detergent, especially in towns or near the sea, where dust and salt settle on the steel. If the paint is chipped, clean the spot and touch it up promptly; we supply touch-up paint in the colour of the fence on request.

Fitting existing pillars

Many owners already have pillars or a base wall, for example after removing an old timber or mesh fence. BP224 is easy to fit to existing masonry: we measure each opening, make every panel to its width and fix it with brackets drilled into the pillars, so the old base can stay. Where the openings differ in width, the central motif is simply kept in the middle of each span.

Other traditional forged fence patterns can be adapted to existing pillars in the same way.

Rhythm that leads the eye

In this model the rhythm of the elements leads the eye along the line of the fence, and the repetition of forms brings calm and visual order. The fence does not close off the space aggressively; it marks it clearly and elegantly. BP224 works on smaller plots as well as larger properties, and its universal pattern can be matched to many types of houses, with a gate and wicket of the same character.
