Forged Bench – Loft Industrial (MK24)

MK24 is a raw industrial bench: a thick timber seat and a single wide plank for a backrest, held between two heavy, riveted steel ends.

There is no ornament here, and that is deliberate. Each end is built like a ladder from flat steel straps joined with large round rivet heads, and the armrests and base runners carry the marks of the hammer. Against that dark, rough steel the pine looks almost golden, with its grain and knots left on show.

Heavy profiles, honest materials

The thick sections carry the weight of the timber without flexing, and the base runners spread the load, so the bench stands steady on grass, gravel or a concrete floor. Hand-working leaves visible traces on the steel, and the rivets are both structure and decoration. Despite its rough looks MK24 is comfortable: the seat is deep and the backrest is set at a relaxed angle.

MK24 belongs in places with brick, concrete and steel: loft apartments, restaurants, offices, the courtyard of a converted factory or a modern garden.
