Designer Forged Bench – Loft, Antiqued (MK23)

MK23 is a loft bench finished with our own ageing techniques, so the steel and the timber look as if they had already served for decades.

The frame is a single flowing piece of dark steel. At one end it curls up into a knotted scroll, and along the top of the backrest it runs as a wide band pierced with cut-out signs and lines. Three oval pads of weathered wood are set into it as the backrest, and the seat is made of separate blocks of dark, aged timber, each with its own grain and cracks.

Raw design rather than classic simplicity

In a loft bench the form matters more than tidy proportions. The structure of MK23 is bold and on show, its lines are irregular, and the curved bars of the armrest look more like a drawing than a piece of furniture. That gives it real visual weight, enough to anchor a brick-walled room, a restaurant or a company lobby.

Proportions adapted to the room

We make loft benches by hand to order, so their proportions and details can be adapted to a specific place, and we can pair the steel with reclaimed wood or solid planks. Benches for outdoor use are given corrosion protection. If you prefer something heavier and plainer, the industrial bench MK24 is built from riveted straps and thick pine.
