Forged Floral and Plant Fence (BM26)
BM26 is a whole garden in steel. Along a brick wall, each span shows something different: sunflowers, poppies, reeds and grasses, a stag, a heron and a willow.
Every element was designed and made in our workshop, hot-dip galvanized and patinated in the colours chosen by the client.
One story told in many spans
BM26 does not repeat one motif. Each span of this long fence shows a different scene, and together they form one story about nature: sunflowers and poppies, reeds and meadow grasses, grapevines, a stag among plants, a heron by the water and a willow. Some spans are light and delicate, others more decorative and three-dimensional, so the fence never becomes monotonous, yet it keeps a common rhythm and colour scheme from end to end.
From garden to meadow
Walking along the fence, you move from garden motifs to field and meadow ones. Flower spans with clear accents of colour give way to panels of grasses and reeds that echo the natural rhythm of a meadow, and the transitions between them are designed rather than accidental. Each scene has its own character, but they join smoothly, which is what makes the whole fence look finished and considered.
Animals within the plants
The spans with animals give BM26 its sculptural character. The stag with its antlers among the vegetation is not an ornament for show but part of the composition that builds the atmosphere of nature, and the heron stands quietly among the reeds. Because the animals are set into the plants rather than placed in front of them, the scenes look calm and harmonious.
Designed and made in our workshop
Every element of the fence, even the smallest leaf, was designed and made in our workshop. The petals of the flowers are forged and joined one by one, the stems are drawn from bar, the grasses are bundled from thin rods and the animals are modelled in steel. All parts are hot-dip galvanized and then patinated in the colours chosen by the client, which here means warm reds and yellows for the flowers and a natural green-bronze for the plants.
Planning a fence of different spans
A fence like BM26 starts with a plan of the whole boundary. We mark the position of each span on a drawing of the property, decide which scenes go where, for example the brightest flowers near the entrance and calmer grasses along the sides, and check how the sequence will look from the street and from the garden. Only then do we start forging, span by span.

Durable colour outdoors
Colour on a fence has to withstand sun, rain and frost. The galvanized steel receives a primer that bonds to zinc and then paints and patinas chosen for UV resistance, applied by hand so that each flower and leaf gets its own shade. If one span is ever damaged, it can be repaired or repainted on its own without touching the rest of the fence.
A botanical fence suits houses with large gardens, garden centres, guest houses and anyone who wants the boundary to be a piece of art. It can be built gradually, too: some owners start with a few spans near the entrance and add more scenes over the years. More designs of this kind are part of our artistic fence collection.
The masonry base in the photos is low and continuous, so the forged scenes stand at eye level along the path. On a sloping site, the base can step down while the spans keep their full height, which keeps every scene equally visible.
Variety without randomness
Fences in which the pattern is not a monotonous repeat of one element, but a controlled variety, are becoming more and more popular. Along a longer run different arrangements of ornament can appear, while the whole keeps a common line and a consistent style, so the fence never tires the eye and works better as part of the architecture of the property. Plant metalwork softens the hard lines of modern houses and suits gardens naturally.
