Forged Garden Bench with a Coat of Arms (MK1B)

MK1B is one of the most elegant benches we make: a backrest of large forged spirals with a cartouche at the centre for a coat of arms, a monogram or names.

Unlike our MK1 garden bench, it has no slats in the backrest at all. Big spirals swing in arcs from one armrest to the other, their rolled ends picked out in copper and finished with small balls. In the middle sits a cartouche, a shield with a shell on top and a curving frame, and the bench in the photos carries two first names in it. The seat is made of red-brown timber slats, the frame and legs are black, and the armrests end in small snail-shell scrolls. The decoration is balanced, neither sparse nor crowded.

A bench that carries meaning

With a family crest, MK1B becomes a permanent feature in front of the house or in a courtyard; with names and a date it makes a wedding or anniversary present. We model the cartouche from your own design, whether a coat of arms, a town crest, a monogram or a company logo, and patinate it in copper, bronze or gold. The same heraldic motif can be repeated on a gate or on the ornamental fences around the property.
