Half-Solid Forged Entrance Gate (BP69)

BP69 is built with partial screening hidden inside its frame.

You get a feeling of privacy, yet you can still see what is happening on the other side, which many owners prefer to a completely blind gate.

The pattern of scrolls and hand-forged leaves is made on both faces, with the screening layer sandwiched between them. If you would rather close the view completely, look at our fully solid wrought iron gates.

Baroque in spirit

BP69 is massive and fanciful at the same time. Plant accents, curls and other ornaments place it close to the Baroque, and the solid base and centre contrast with the open upper section, which keeps the view of the street clear.

Screening inside, not behind

The real difference lies in how the screening is fitted. Most half-solid gates have a steel sheet fixed to the inner face, so the house side shows a flat panel and the ornament is visible only from the street. In BP69 the screening sits inside the structure, between two layers of ornament, so the pattern is identical on both faces.

This takes more work, because each scroll and leaf is made twice and the panels have to be fitted before the second layer closes over them, but the result looks finished from wherever you stand. It also protects the edges of the sheet from the weather, which helps the gate keep its condition for longer.

Selected steel, hand finishing

The gate is built from carefully selected steel, shaped by blacksmiths and protected against corrosion, so it resists knocks, abrasion and the weather and keeps its appearance for many years without seasonal care. Its mix of solid and open areas makes it strong without looking heavy.

Homes and commercial buildings

BP69 works in front of traditional and modern buildings alike, and it is as suitable for a family house as for a hotel, a restaurant or an office building that wants a dignified entrance. The proportion of solid to open areas can also be changed: a little more screening for a busy road, a little less for a quiet lane.
